About the role:
In this role the main focus involves supporting patients dealing with chronic pain to improve their nutritional intake as a component of their comprehensive pain management approach.
Skills in enhancing behavioural change are highly valued.
This position is a clinical position with the work spanning individual and group sessions, both in person and via telehealth, as well as creating education resources.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of HIPS. In their discipline, the Director/Team Leader of Dietetics at JHH will support them at a professional level.

- Hunter Integrated Pain Service (HIPS) is a tertiary multidisciplinary pain service located on the John Hunter Hospital Campus (JHH).
- HIPS prides itself on a broad biopsychosocial ‘whole person’ approach to chronic pain management.

Requirements:
Our successful candidate will possess the following:
- An approved tertiary qualification: Bachelor or post-graduate degree in nutrition and dietetics which provides eligibility for full membership of the Dietitians' Association of Australia, or other qualification deemed equivalent by the Employer.
- Demonstrated relevant clinical experience in delivering or facilitating pain management group program sessions with a trauma informed psychological focus or willingness to undertake same.
- Experience working in a team, supporting patients with complex psychosocial issues, assisting in case coordination, patient flow and quality improvement activities in the service or willingness to undertake same.
- Current unencumbered driver's licence.
About you:
- You will have extensive clinical dietetic experience in the management of patients with chronic diseases and management of nutrition-related behaviours.
- You will have highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
