Dietitian Grade 2 - Weight Management Services

The RCH Weight Management Service provides tertiary, multidisciplinary care for children and young people referred with complex obesity. The service provides multidisciplinary assessment and management. It encompasses the medical specialties of Neurodevelopmental Medicine, General Paediatrics and Endocrinology. Allied health disciplines include Psychology, Dietetics and Social Work. The primary responsibility of this position is provision of specialist high quality nutritional care to paediatric patients and their families as a member of the multidisciplinary Weight Management Service. There will also be opportunities to assist with the provision of student supervision and education to healthcare professionals, as well as quality and research activities.
What You'll Achieve:
- Work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure patient care is integrated and effective.
- Willingness to meet the credentialing requirements of the RCH generally and the Nutrition & Food Services Department.
- Nutritional care of paediatric patients (inpatients and outpatients) across a variety of specialist/medical unit
- Communicate effectively with patients and families to ensure their understanding and that their needs and views are included in plans and actions.
Your Skills and Experience:
- Eligibility for full Membership of Dietitians Australia
- Eligibility for the Accredited Practising Dietitian Program
- Minimum postgraduate degree Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
About Nutrition and Food Services
The Department of Nutrition and Food Services at The Royal Children's Hospital incorporates the clinical dietetic service, the Main Kitchen that caters for inpatient meals and the Central Formula Room that produces formula, enteral feeds and fortifies expressed breast milk to meet the nutritional needs of patients. We are also a registered NDIS provide and provide a variety of nutrition supports to our patients with a disability.
