Our award-winning Marketing and Communications Team works with key stakeholders across council and promotes the various services, programs and events available to our community and staff. These promotions are managed across multiple channels and platforms including social media, digital mail, website, City Limits publication, internal communications, and a range of other channels.

The team also works on collaborative campaigns with State, Federal and other external stakeholders to maximise reach and engagement. Our creative and innovative communications engage and informs our community and promotes Council as a great place to live, play and work. 

A Digital Communications Coordinator position is on offer that will support the execution of the City of Marion’s communication strategy by creating interesting, accurate and innovative content that connects with our community across a range of digital platforms.

As our new Digital Communications Coordinator, you will work in a dynamic marketing team and play a key role in shaping and growing the City of Marion’s social media and web presence as well as introducing new digital platforms with the aim of improving City of Marion’s identity, brand and presence in the community and strengthening our communications with stakeholders and the broader community.

Reporting directly to the Unit Manager Marketing and Communications, in this position you will support the execution of the City of Marion’s communication strategy by creating interesting, accurate and innovative content. This includes being hands-on in producing creative content, including videos, campaign plans, graphic design and photography, which is effective in telling the narrative to a diverse range of target audiences. 

To be considered for this position it is essential that you hold tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, multimedia, or related field. It is expected that you would have gained solid digital experience in a similar position including having experience with managing and producing direct mail, social media, website, paid social/ search, and campaign management.

While there may be an opportunity to provide training in videography, it is preferred that you have had prior experience in producing videos (Premier Pro, Premier Rush or similar). Those with prior experience in local government is also desirable though others are encouraged to apply.

This is an exceptional permanent full-time opportunity that may require you to work out of hours on occasion supporting events.
