Address We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Digital Product Design Manager to the EC Digital team at AECOM. In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of computational design solutions within our engineering company. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving innovation in our product offerings by leveraging cutting-edge computational design technologies. This role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles, a keen eye for market trends, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products.
You will own the development programme for a portfolio of custom-built internal tools, where you will be the critical interface between the business, our software development team, and our technology partners. Your initial focus in this role would be managing the Computational Design development programme collaborating with the Technical Lead, but the role will extend to other programmes over time.
This position will offer flexibility for a hybrid work schedule and will be based out of Sydney, Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
+ Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for the integration of computational design into our product portfolio.
+ Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs in computational design within the engineering sector.
+ Collaborate with senior leadership to align the computational design strategy with overall business objectives.
Product Development
+ Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle for computational design solutions, from ideation to launch.
+ Work closely with engineering teams to define product requirements, ensuring alignment with technical capabilities and customer expectations.
+ Foster a culture of continuous improvement, staying abreast of advancements in computational design methodologies and incorporating them into our product roadmap.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, marketing, and sales, to ensure seamless integration of computational design solutions.
+ Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex computational concepts into understandable business terms.
+ Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary problem-solving.
Project Management
+ Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets for computational design initiatives.
+ Coordinate with project teams to ensure timely delivery of milestones and proactively address any issues that may arise.
+ Implement agile methodologies to adapt to changing requirements and ensure flexibility in project execution.
User Experience and Feedback
+ Work closely with the design team to prioritize user experience in computational design solutions.
+ Gather and analyze user feedback through various channels, incorporating insights to improve product features and functionality.
+ Conduct usability testing and iterate on Product Designs to enhance user satisfaction and adoption.
What We Are Looking For
To be successful in this critical role, you will need to have significant relevant experience in successfully managing software products, as well as in software development in industrial/technical organizations. You will have a sound technical understanding of product architecture to ensure alignment between desired outcomes and product capability. Experience in User Experience (UX) design would also be highly valued.
As a member of the Enterprise Capabilities’ Digital team, you will work closely with the other members of the Global Digital Teams on developing solution to supplement engineering platforms and applications to be deployed on projects around the world. The global digital team will work close with other digital professionals around the world to advance AECOM’s global digital strategies and priorities.
Qualifications
Required experience
+ Engineering, IT, Data Science, and/or software development degree, and/or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
+ Product management experience, including cloud-based computing, PaaS/SaaS, AI/ML and/or engineering software.
+ Ability to articulate a product vision in the form of storytelling and visual presentations so you can share the experience with others in the organization, generate excitement and secure business support.
+ Proven ability to lead and influence within a geographically dispersed global organization to build consensus within and outside of the organization at the highest levels.
+ Excellent communications skills, enabling you to bridge the gap between development, design, the customer and the business.
+ Strong customer focus and empathy.
Preferred experience
+ Familiarity with program management processes, design management and/or construction management would be an advantage
+ Post-graduate qualifications would be beneficial.
