We are a vibrant and diverse inner-city council stretching 20kms from South to Port Melbourne along the stunning bay beaches down to Elwood and out to St Kilda East with around 1000 people who all work together to deliver more than 100 programs and services to our engaged community of residents, businesses and visitors. With an increased waitlist and the need to open new rooms for children under three we are on the search for educators to join us on this exciting journey for 2024!

Your enthusiasm, passion and commitment to providing high quality education and care will enhance the embedding of continuous improvement to achieve positive outcomes for children families, community and staff.

We create space for non-contact time away from the children so you can contribute to thoughtful and purposeful programs.

We have a passionate and driven team who all work together to deliver outcomes that positively benefit our community.

  • 4 x permanent full-time positions available
  • 3 x permanent part-time positions available

Recruitment Process

You are invited to participate in a recruitment process where we will be looking for candidates to join our team. We will provide information about City of Port Phillip Children Services and you will have an opportunity to participate in a short 30-minute individual interview and group activity and walk through the space you might work in.

What you might do

  • Provide a safe space for children to play, learn and grow
  • Build and maintain meaningful relationships with children, families, colleagues, and the centre community
  • Contribute to developing and rolling out innovative early learning programs
  • Document children’s learning and development

Who we are looking for

  • People with positivity and a genuine passion for helping to positively shape the lives of young children
  • Experience working in Early Childhood
  • Diploma in Children’s Services or Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (or working towards)

Important pre-employment requirements

Prior to a formal letter of offer, preferred applicants will be asked to provide:

  • Evidence of qualifications
  • Evidence of current first aid certificate, current CPR certificate and working with children’s check
  • Sufficient proof of right to work in Australia, and proof of identity.
  • Evidence of COVID-19 Vaccination or valid medical exemption in line with City of Port Phillip Vaccination Policy
  • Complete a National Police Check completed via City of Port Phillip’s Provider.
  • And be required to undertake a pre-employment medical check (at the cost of the council)
