The Role

The Director Advanced Test & Training Environments leads the definition, development and operation of Air Force's Advanced Test and Training Environment (ATTE). 

Position responsibilities include:

• Delivering a capability that maximises Defence's return on simulation and physical range assets, by merging Joint and Single Service strategies;
• Leading a complex and diverse workforce of 150 staff including geographically remote work sites;
• Managing an Enterprise Level sustainment arrangement in partnership with Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group;
• Management of the Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA) including coordination and deconfliction of a long-term program of complex trials;
• Stakeholder management (state and national level), both internal and external to Defence. Specific appreciation of non-Defence stakeholders across the WPA; and
• Exercise Ministerial delegation to manage non-Defence stakeholders from some or all of the WPA.

This position is classified as having a work value commensurate with EL 2.1 and the salary range of $161,522 - $192,221 (EL 2.1) + up to 15.4% Superannuation. Positions with a work value at EL 2.1 are reviewed annually and salary may increase or decrease in accordance with the provisions of the Defence Enterprise Agreement. Applicants should familiarise themselves with the relevant provisions of the Defence Enterprise Agreement if considering applying for this position. Should an annual review determine that work is no longer available at the higher work value, the employee’s classification and salary will be decreased to the lower level work value and salary within the EL 2 classification range.

The successful candidate will be required to travel regularly to and from Woomera Range facility.

The ATTE Directorate provides innovative and cutting edge Live and Synthetic threat environments to support mission assurance. It does this using a spectrum of threat and test systems enabling war fighter, weapon and platform assurance in order to enable mission lethality and mission survivability.
