  • Lead the project controls of the program.
  • Lead the development and implementation of risk, safety, and audit management systems.
  • Senior leadership position within a company connected to its heritage and history.
  • Work for a renewable energy business, in a strong collaborative team, delivering the energy transition.

‘Battery of the Nation’ is Hydro Tasmania’s bold vision to maximise Tasmania’s hydropower capacity, including the redevelopment of the Tarraleah hydropower scheme to a more flexible, future proof generating asset and developing our first pumped hydro scheme at Lake Cethana.

Tasmania has significant potential in the future development of wind and hydropower, coupled with more transmission and interconnection. It's anticipated these developments will drive billions of dollars in investment and create hundreds of jobs in Tasmania, as well as delivering energy security for Tasmania and lowest possible power prices for Tasmanians.

Hydro Tasmania supports applications from all members of our community for equitable access to our employment opportunities. We are open to discussing workplace flexibility in all our vacancies, to ensure we can attract the best candidates and accommodate individual needs, differences, disabilities and working arrangements, even in ways we have not thought of. Our merit-based recruitment practices are founded on building diversity by fostering an inclusive, flexible and equitable workplace.

About You:

Boasting 15+ years of experience and demonstrated ability in setting up and managing a Program Management Office (PMO) function, you will bring valuable expertise from a client or integrated owner background. Operating at a senior level, you will contribute to critical business decisions and ensure effective project governance and controls for mega infrastructure projects. Your background in either Hydropower, Energy, Oil, Gas, or Construction equips you with the knowledge to navigate a dynamic range of stakeholders and distil complex information into meaningful insights that further project requirements. Additionally, you will be adept at the procurement and management of major contracts, negotiating the best commercial outcomes.

About the role:

As the Director of Construction PMO for the Battery of the Nation projects, encompassing the Tarraleah upgrade works, Tarraleah redevelopment, and Cethana Pumped Hydro, your primary responsibility will be to provide high-level project management services. You will ensure effective management, integration, and reporting of project controls throughout the project and program lifecycle. Your role entails establishing and leading the program PMO to oversee various aspects, including Project Management, Scheduling, Cost Estimating and Control, Earned Value Management, Contracts Procurement, Management and Administration, Quality and Assurance Management, Risk Management, Change and Issues Management, and Systems and Data Management. It will be your duty to ensure the development and maintenance of efficient project and contract management systems by incorporating stakeholder needs and ensuring compliance with Hydro Tasmania's assurance frameworks. Additionally, you will collaborate with prospective Engineering Construction Procurement (EPC) Contractors through the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) process to devise project controls strategies. Managing an integrated team of delivery partners, contractors, and consultants to achieve project and program objectives while being accountable to the Project Directors will be integral to your role.
