Context for the Position:

The Continuous Improvement function at Mercy Health is central to our commitment to building andembedding a collaborative improvement approach. This approach ensures our staff is engaged, energised,authorised, and empowered to identify and seize opportunities to improve. We believe that Continuous Improvement is fundamental to enhancing processes, services, and overall operations, leading to improvedefficiency, quality, and the overall experience for patients, residents, and clients.

The Data Analytics function, also central to our mission, is responsible for employing technology-drivenprocesses to analyse and present data. By developing, maintaining, and implementing an analytics framework, this function plays a crucial role in collecting, storing, analysing, and using data to improve pafient, consumer, and resident value, supporting the broader Mercy Health strategy and Continuous Improvement journey.

About the Position:

The Director, Continuous Improvement and Data Analytics will lead the development and delivery of aContinuous Improvement and Data Analytics strategy across the organisation. Reporting to the Executive Director Transformation and Performance Improvement, this role holds responsibility for managingContinuous Improvement and Data Analytics functions to deliver and embed all aspects related tosustainable Continuous Improvement organisation-wide capability. The position plays a pivotal role infacilitating the interface between the executive and managers for all Continuous Improvement and DataAnalytics activities.

  • The Group Manager of Continuous Improvement and Data Analytics both report into the Director, Continuous Improvement and Data Analytics.
  • In the strategic domain, the Director, Continuous Improvement and Data Analytics, will play a crucial role in contributing to the development and overseeing the implementation of both short and long-term strategic plans. This involves ensuring the alignment of the Continuous Improvementand Data Analytics teams with Mercy Health’s Strategic Framework. Additionally, a key aspect of this strategic responsibility is to engage, influence, and empower staff, fostering their capacity to lead high-performing teams.
  • Also, the Director will focus on ensuring that Continuous Improvement staff contribute to delivering improved outcomes for consumers. This will involve actively involving consumers in co-designing care through the application of best practice patient-centred care principles.
  • Regarding Health and Safety, the Director is tasked with ensuring compliance with health and safety policies and procedures. This encompasses conducting safety audits and facilitating the return to work of staff following injury or illness.
  • The Director will also serve as an inspirational leader, motivating the Continuous Improvement andData Analytics team. A core responsibility is to ensure that the workforce is adequately trained to deliver compassionate, mission-oriented, and high-quality outcomes.
  • In the Financial Legal and Business sector, the Director will lead operational and financial performance, aligning with Mercy Health’s overarching mission. This will include a steadfast commitment to compliance with legislative, regulatory, and Catholic obligations.
  • The Director will exercise due diligence to protect health and safety, demonstrating leadership in the areas of safety, quality, and risk. Additionally, the Director will identify and proactively mitigaterisks to the reputation and assets of Mercy Health.

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to engage and empower staff to lead high-performing teams.
  • Experience in developing and embedding organisation-wide Continuous Improvement methodologies and cultures.
  • Understanding of the healthcare environment, including safety, quality, financial, and system drivers.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Mercy Health and Catholic Health.
  • Positive attitude, collaborative, striving, and agile.
  • Comply with all mandatory organisafional competencies.
