Great opportunity for a strategic media and comms specialist to play a pivotal role in shaping The University's corporate strategy.
The Media and Corporate Relations branch proactively positions the University of Adelaide as a key driver of social and economic prosperity in South Australia and as a respected thought leader, through development and delivery of creative media, communication and partnerships strategies and effective agenda setting with key external stakeholders in media, government, industry, and the broader community. The branch encompasses dedicated teams in corporate and government relations, protocol management, communications and media capabilities.
The Director, Media and Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping the University's public image and is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the University's corporate-level media and communications strategy. The Director is responsible for leading creative and innovative approaches to expanding share of voice and expanding reach for the University and requires strategic thinking, innovative communication approaches, and the ability to navigate diverse media channels. The position oversees media relations, PR campaigns, and strategic communications (including corporate and internal), ensuring a cohesive and compelling narrative. The Director works in close collaboration with, and provides high-level advice to, the Vice-Chancellor and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (External Engagement), senior management including other Deputy Vice-Chancellors and Executive Deans to ensure media and corporate communications activity is integrated across all University channels.
To be successful you will need:
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing media and corporate communications strategy to support reputation building objectives in a large and complex organisation.
- Extensive knowledge of media operations with contacts across print, radio, television and digital media and a proven ability to gain media coverage.
- Demonstrated experience in managing crisis communications.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate and manage staff to achieve high standards of work.
- Experience in issues management communications and the ability to provide advice to senior management on risks and solutions.
