We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Hardware Engineering to lead our team in designing and developing cutting-edge hardware solutions. This pivotal role requires expertise in RFID, electrical, and mechanical engineering, as well as proficiency in SolidWorks and Altium. The successful candidate will lead our engineering team, driving innovation and ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in our hardware products.

We develop hardware and software to solve a unique set of challenges for our customers. We are the market leader in our space and have a strong technology and product advantage. We relocated our hardware manufacturing from the USA to Australia and are now growing our Hardware Engineering team here.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Hardware engineers, overseeing the design, development, and implementation of Hardware projects.
  • Provide expert guidance in RFID technology, electrical and mechanical engineering principles, circuit design, and PCB layout using Altium.
  • Manage new electronics & mechanical design, including enhancement of current RFID products (13.56MHz)
  • Drive the conceptualization and design of innovative hardware solutions using SolidWorks for 3D modeling and mechanical design.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, product management, and manufacturing, to integrate hardware with other system components.
  • Develop and maintain technical project timelines, budgets, and documentation to ensure projects are delivered on time and within cost.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by introducing new technologies and processes that enhance product quality and development efficiency.
  • Mentor and develop team members, ensuring skill enhancement and career progression.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in Hardware Engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Profound knowledge of RFID technology and applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks and Altium for designing and prototyping hardware.
  • Experienced user of RF Network & Spectrum Analyzer etc.
  • Experience in preparing technical design documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team of engineers.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of delivering complex hardware projects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Willing to travel international to places such as India, Macau and Las Vegas
  • It would also be an advantage to have: Knowledge of EMC testing and requirements. Knowledge of the unique challenges associated with RF environments/interference. Knowledge of RFID 13.56MHz Mod 2 (ISO/IEC 18000-2) and/or Mod 3 (ISO/IEC 18000-3). 

Desirable

  • Experience in the consumer electronics industry.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards and quality management systems.
  • Experience in working with international teams and vendors.
