Job description

About the position:

Newington College has an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced educator with a strong background in leading and managing Rugby programs to join us as the Director of Rugby

The Director of Rugby will be responsible for strategic and operational oversight and play a pivotal role in the program's direction across the Secondary and Primary campuses (K–12). The primary responsibility for the Director of Rugby is the development and implementation of an engaging, challenging and inclusive program across all age groups and abilities. To achieve this objective, the Director of Rugby needs to provide strategic direction, leadership, organisation and implementation of Rugby across the three campuses. The ideal candidate must demonstrate a strong strategic aptitude and we expect you to showcase your previous experience in this area within your cover letter.

  • demonstrate strong inter-personal skills that will enable the individual to support, relate to and communicate with students of all ages and skill levels
  • demonstrate an ability to lead, manage and inspire others to improve the quality of Newington’s coaching program and to ensure the highest standards of delivery
  • have a visible presence across the whole program, championing a positive Rugby environment with a broad and highly engaged community
  • have a desire to design and implement a developmental-orientated program over a result-orientated program, with a coaching philosophy that emphasises developing the ‘whole’ person
  • have a genuine commitment to understanding individual learning needs, in particular student wellbeing and safeguarding
  • demonstrate a sound knowledge of Work Health & Safety (WHS) and safe work practices.
Further criteria are outlined in the position description. Candidates are encouraged to read the position description carefully and address all the requirements of the position in their cover letter.
