About the Role
An exceptional opportunity currently exists for a highly motivated and suitably experienced individual to join QPAC in the role of Director – Programming.
Reporting to the Executive Director – Curatorial, you will create, manage and implement the strategic priorities and curatorial vision of QPAC including initiatives of the Chief Executive and Executive Director – Curatorial. Programs include QPAC presents, commercial hiring and producing in addition to programs that fulfil QPAC’s strategic objectives including First Nations, Digital and Audience development across the sector.
In consultation with the Executive Director – Curatorial and the Chief Executive, lead, facilitate and advocate a creative vision for QPAC, and successfully plan, develop and oversee the delivery of QPAC’s programming to ensure maximum venue utilisation in all QPAC venues. Source opportunities for commercial productions to assist the Chief Executive and Executive Director – Curatorial the in developing and expanding QPAC’s capability as a production house and investor.
Additional key components of this role include, leading and developing the Programming and Venue Hire teams including the performance of key employees, achievement of targets and adherence to budgets, procedures and the highest industry standards.
About You
To be successful for this position you will possess:
- Demonstrated ability to meet the Core Competencies of Senior Management of the Trust. Which includes but is not limited to extensive knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the performing arts industry.
- Proven experience in the commercial management of events, venues or theatre operations.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate issues of a complex and sensitive nature.
- Demonstrated ability in establishing and developing a comprehensive “public programme” of arts events at an artistic level, which complies with the Director’s policies.
- Demonstrated ability in the leadership and management of substantial commercial projects in the environment of the performing arts.
- Demonstrated ability to provide strong management with confidentiality, due diligence and integrity and to identify and develop new business opportunities and income sources.
- Demonstrated ability to represent the Trust at all levels, to participate in executive management planning processes and to provide high level reports on activity and financial performance against targets.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute to the development of the organisation’s major projects and activities as a member of the executive management group.
- Demonstrated experience in the Australian arts and entertainment industry including positive relationships with leading promoters, hirers, artists and/or venue operators.
- Ability to travel and attend interstate performances.
