Job description

Cochlear, the global leader in implantable hearing solutions, is seeking an exceptional Director of Project Services. In this role, you will oversee the design and development of groundbreaking systems from conception to market launch and support, ensuring they drive revenue and uphold Cochlear's technological leadership. You will also champion the development of Systems Project Management discipline, processes, and system thinking across the organization, ensuring tools and processes are effective and adhered to by project managers.

Systems Project Management:

  • Manage the design and development of large, complex systems.
  • Coordinate project teams to ensure seamless integration of products.
  • Oversee project scope, schedule, architecture, validation, regulatory approval, and commercialization.
  • Lead financial forecasting and ensure projects are equipped to meet objectives.
  • Inspire and motivate project teams to achieve excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with Cochlear's processes and procedures.

Leader of Project Team:

  • Guide multidisciplinary teams toward common goals.
  • Foster a culture of achievement and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain the skills and competencies of the team.
  • Resolve conflicts and enhance team communication.
  • Maximize the potential of each team member.

Champion System Project Management Discipline:

  • Innovate and champion new practices to enhance productivity.
  • Train and mentor junior project managers.
  • Lead process improvements and eliminate inefficiencies.
  • Stay current with industry project management practices.

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science.
  • 10 years of post-qualification experience in project management or leadership roles.
  • Effective communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams.
  • Expertise in coaching and career progression.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • In-depth understanding of system design, components, and architecture.
  • Strategic thinker with business acumen.

Ideal:

  • Experience in implant development or the medical device industry.
  • MBA or equivalent qualifications in Management.
