About the role
This role is a key member of the leadership team within the NSW Early Childhood Education and Care Regulatory Authority which regulates over 6000 early childhood education and care services in NSW and drives the provision of safe, high quality services for children in NSW.
The role leads and develops tactical plans and initiatives to drive the development of regulatory Policy and strategy within NSW and in partnership with other jurisdictions, as well as overseeing the delivery of specialist regulatory functions for Regulatory Authority, including:
- legal advice and legal actions,
- the management of the approvals and assessment functions under the NQF and state-based legislation,
- leading initiatives that improve safety and quality practice in the sector,
- development and delivery of the Aboriginal cultural safety framework for the sector

About you
You will possess strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with key stakeholders. You will have demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level, preferably within the public sector or comparable complex organisation. You will be a strategic thinker, able to drive solutions to complex problems, and have strong analytical skills with the ability to manage complex competing priorities in a high volume and constantly changing environment.
Your exceptional people and project management skills will help inform organisational strategy, growth and partnerships. Your key focus will be translating business objectives into strategies and initiatives.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of a large, complex organisation.
- Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
- Demonstrated experience within regulation or a similar operational role that ensures accountability for rules and systems.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, management, social sciences or communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Hold a valid clearance to work with Children (Working with Children Check).
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC's validity (up to 5 years).
