Northern Beaches – Director Transport & Assets

Situated in one of the most unique and picturesque regions of Australia, Northern Beaches Council is a vibrant community spanning from Palm Beach to Manly. With 24 ocean beaches, over 80 kilometres of coastline, and a commitment to environmental sustainability, we pride ourselves on our connection to the land and waters of this beautiful area. Home to nearly 270,000 residents, our vision is to foster a safe, diverse, inclusive, and connected community that lives harmoniously with our environment.

As one of the largest employers on the Northern Beaches, we are dedicated to building a dynamic and engaged workforce that collaborates with our community to shape our future. Our council is modern, multi-award-winning, and deeply committed to excellence in service delivery and customer satisfaction. We are privileged to have received the 2022 AR Bluett Award for the most progressive metropolitan council in NSW.

As a key member of the Chief Executive Team, the Director of Transport and Assets, will be responsible for leading and managing the financial, performance, and resource functions of the Transport & Assets Division including transport and civil infrastructure, capital works, parks, property and cleansing services. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring the division operates efficiently and effectively, delivering essential services to our community. With your strategic oversight, we aim to optimise resource allocation and performance, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for residents across our region.

Your role will extend beyond day-to-day operations as you develop and implement strategies and operational plans to achieve excellence in service delivery. By aligning these initiatives with our community's needs and aspirations, you will play a vital role in realising our council's vision and goals. Your contribution to the development of our strategic direction through the implementation of community and operational plans will shape the future of our organisation, fostering sustainable growth and community development.

The ideal candidate will have a wealth of experience in senior leadership positions, ideally within the local government or a related public sector setting. They should demonstrate a proven track record in strategic planning, financial management, and effective stakeholder engagement. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities are essential for success in this role. A strong commitment to fostering workplace diversity, promoting inclusion, and ensuring safety is paramount. The successful candidate will embody these values and demonstrate a dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for all employees.
