About the Student Life Division

The Student Life division ensures the delivery of student-centred support across the student lifecycle that underpins the University's broader strategic visions by delivering support services and functions that facilitate and enhance the academic mission of the institution. The Student Life division provides support services and programs that contribute to the student experience and success, including in the areas of health, counselling, disability services, orientation and transition, retention, student wellbeing, and student engagement through the activities of the Flinders University Student Association

About the Role

Flinders University is seeking a dedicated Disability Advisor to work alongside the Health, Counselling and Disability Services team, to support students and prospective students with disabilities to engage and participate equitably in studies and University life. In this rewarding position, you will assess learning impacts to determine and monitor reasonable adjustments, in collaboration with relevant professional and academic staff.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Providing advice, guidance, and information to professional and academic University staff regarding legislative requirements and obligations and how these may be met.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of disability-related policies and action plans within the University.
  • Designing, delivering and evaluation of training, workshops and programs to students and staff that focus on disability awareness, access, and inclusion.


About You
Your demonstrated experience working in the disability sector and your sound knowledge of disability and equal opportunity legislation will allow you to be a trusted advocate for students. Your dedication to a student-centred approach will allow you to deliver positive solutions to complex and sensitive cases. You will be an empathetic communicator with high-level interpersonal skills to effectively build and maintain relationships with stakeholders and students from diverse backgrounds.

As the successful Disability Advisor, you will also demonstrate:

  • Experience in producing written information, reports, and presentations for a range of audiences.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs with a particular focus on mental health and wellbeing.
