About the role
We are currently hiring for our team of Disability Support Workersand Youth Support Workers to support our Brisbane Metro and Regional areas. We want to provide a safe & loving environment and trauma-informed care. Ideally, we are looking for someone with a background in supporting youth and adults.
The key responsibilities of a Disability Youth Support Worker include supporting the young person in the 5 following pillars of care:
- Daily living support
- Therapeutic support
- Education
- Wellbeing and engagement
- Mental health support
- Disability Support
Most importantly, you will act as a role model to demonstrate positive attributes that allow young people to learn and feel safe which will in turn encourage aspirations for the future, build resilience and reduce vulnerability.
About you
- You are willing to travel (we will pay for your accommodation for Regional shifts!)
- You have a weekly availability of 3-4 days for casual shifts
- You have completed a nationally recognised qualification of Certificate III or above in Community Services, Youth Work, or Disability
- You have previous experience working with young people, preferably within an accommodation setting.
- You have the ability to connect and build rapport with the young people and show a genuine interest in their lives, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
- You have the ability to manage difficult situations and behaviours and be able to de-escalate these situations in a therapeutic way.
- You are committed to providing client-focused services with positive outcomes.
To apply for this role, you must hold or be willing to obtain the following:
- Relevant qualifications acceptable are: Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma and Degrees in relevant fields
- An NDIS Worker Screening Check or Yellow Card
- Employee Working with Children’s Check or Blue Card
- A current National Police Check conducted within the past 6 months
- A valid Australian driver’s license with own reliable and comprehensively insured car
- A current First Aid and CPR certificate
- Hope and Healing Certificate (or willing to obtain one prior to commencing your first shift)
Highly desirable:
- Therapeutic Crises Intervention Training
- Youth Mental Health First Aid
- Pace Training
- Maybo Training or equivalent
