About the Opportunity
The Housing Connection is seeking dedicated Disability Community Workers to join our team as soon as possible.
This highly rewarding and varied role will see you working closely with people with a disability to encourage self-determination and independence.
Your responsibilities could include, but are not limited to:
· Assisting with day-to-day activities, including personal care;
· Promoting social inclusion, meaningful experiences, skills development, and enhancing valued roles;
· Maintaining records of service delivery and engaging with your supervisor and team members.
This role requires you to:
· Have experience, a minimum of three years experience working with people with intellectual disability, mental health, complex needs and challenging behaviours;
· Have a demonstrated understanding of positive behavior support theory and practice and of the lawful use of restrictive practices;
· Have the ability to carry out shift work – am, pm, weekends and sleepovers;
· Excellent communication skills;
· Be enthusiastic and creative with a strong commitment to social justice and passionate about encouraging people with a disability to follow their dreams, aspirations and goals;
· Demonstrate a working understanding of NDIS and code of conduct;
· Have a current, open driver’s licence, current First Aid Certificate, current NDIS Workers check and completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation module
