Our opportunity:
The Disability Trust are seeking dedicated and capable Disability Support Workers to join our established team in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie Region. We offer a uniquely rewarding opportunity where you will provide supports to a vibrant, young, and active female participant living in the Lake Macquarie area on either a permanent part-time or casual basis.
Our ideal candidate is kind natured, with a mature mindset and brings with them a wealth of knowledge and experience supporting individuals with complex behaviours in a 1:1 model. With an understanding of restrictive practices, you deliver person-centred supports that focus on quality of life, dignity, respect, and inclusion.
While no two days are ever quite the same, your day-to-day role responsibilities will look like:
- Assisting with attendance at appointments and other community-based activities including swimming.
- Engaging in skill building activities
- Supporting with personal care
Providing meaningful and active support to enable participants to achieve their goals.
We have both casual and permanent part-time career opportunities with scope to work across our other services as they become available.
Your hours will vary from morning, afternoon, and evening shifts, along with weekend work.
We will value your:
- Experience working with complex behaviours in a 1:1 model.
- Understanding and implementation of restrictive practices and its ethical application.
- Confidence using technical platforms to complete shift notes, incident reporting, and electronic timesheets.
- Ability to work in partnership with participants and their support networks.
- Dedication and proven success in delivering person-centred support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check.
Current Driver's Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

For this position, the casual hourly rate is between $40.26 - $43.93 (inclusive of casual loading) and the part-time hourly rate is between $32.21 - $35.14, to be negotiated based on your skills, qualifications, and experience.
