Disability Support Workers urgently required in Cobbitty, NSW who have experience in caring for people with high physical needs. Morning and afternoon shifts available. This position involves providing care for a participant who needs PEJ feeding, uses a hoisting system, and has a tracheostomy. Must have a caring nature and be willing to learn new skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely use the hoisting system to transfer participant from one position to another (e.g., from bed to wheelchair), ensuring participant’s comfort and security during transfers.
- Perform daily tracheostomy care, according to the care plan.
- Perform suctioning as needed
- Prepare and administer feeds via the percutaneous endoscopic jejunostomy (PEJ) tube, ensuring that the feed is at the correct rate and volume as prescribed by healthcare professionals.Recognise signs of respiratory distress or infection and respond appropriately.
- Provide emotional and psychological support to the participant, encouraging participation in age-appropriate activities to promote development.
- Maintain accurate records of participant’s care, including feeding schedules, medication administration, and any changes in medical condition.
Essential Requirements:
- Articulate and well-spoken English communication skills
- Working With Children Check
- First Aid Certificate and current CPR certification.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Completion of NDIS mandatory training modules.
