Disability Support Worker

The Opportunity:

This position offers opportunity to provide individual supports to participants partaking in ConnectGV’s Day Service programs. You will play a vital role in enriching the lives of participants through engaging activities of their choice such as cooking, music, art and swimming. This unique opportunity allows you to make a positive impact on individuals with disabilities while enjoying the flexibility of casual employment.

Core Responsibilities:

• Provide person-centred support to individuals with disabilities, assisting them in their daily living activities, personal care, and community participation.
• Foster a safe and nurturing environment that promotes independence, dignity, and respect for each individual.
• Collaborate with clients, their families, and other support professionals to develop and implement personalised care plans.
• Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals with disabilities, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
• Document and maintain accurate records of client progress, achievements, and any incidents in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
• Continuously update your skills and knowledge through training and professional development
  

Qualifications & Experience:

• A genuine passion for supporting individuals with disabilities and a commitment to making a positive difference in their lives.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships.
• Empathy, patience, and a compassionate nature to provide the best possible care and support.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and situations.
• Certificate III or IV in Disability Support, Individual Support, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
• Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver's license 
• Satisfactory NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check and Working with Children Check.
• COVID-19 vaccination compliance.
• NDIS ‘New Worker Orientation’ module (prior to appointment).
