Duties & Responsibilities:
The job may vary, but will generally include:
- Provide transportation for the client to and from their destinations.
- Assisting the client with meal preparation, planning and cooking as required.
- Respect your clients ’rights’ to their own views, values, and preferences, (religion, sexuality etc.).
- By building relationships based on trust with clients and their families and/or advocates.
- Domestic tasks (cleaning, laundry, light gardening etc.).
- Facilitate and encourage activities.
- Encourage and enable the participation of customers in the decision-making process for support and activities.
- Acknowledge and respond to the needs of Indigenous and culturally and linguistically different people, and assist them in integrating into the service.
- Be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
Training and experience in the following will be an advantage:
- High physical support
- Complex support and familiar/trained in behaviour management
- Hoisting and transfers
- Full continence care
- Medication assistance
- Huntington's disease experience (desirable, training provided)
Mandatory Requirements:
- NDIS workers screening, or willingness to apply.
- Up-to-date covid-19 vaccinations
- Ability to attend training sessions
- Willingness to transport participants to their destinations
- Police check (Current)
- CPR and first aid certificate (Current)
- Have a safe and reliable vehicle, and also a valid Victoria driver’s licence
- Working rights in Australia
- Capacity to meet the physical demands of the job
- Desirable: Certificate III or IV in Aged Care, Disability, or Community Services (or related field)
