Disability Support Worker

LFE Community Supports are seeking honest, hardworking individuals whoare passionate about providing supports to adults and children with challenged abilities whocan assist them to work toward their goals as outlined in their NDISPlans. Our aim is to support our participantsto pursue their passions and achieve their goals while increasing daily living skills,building confidence in social interactions and encourage community connections, we also provide intensive training and support (sometimes 24:7) to participants with challenged abilities, this can be within their own home, LFE's Accommodation Services, out and about in the community, group activities and our day activity centres. Morning,afternoon, evening and weekend shifts make it a flexible, rewarding role to suit yourlifestyle.

Essential criteria:

• High standard of communication skills including: computer; report writing; liaison/people
• Ability to train/teach
• Available to work all shifts - weekdays, evenings, sleepovers and weekends
• Exponent of people’s rights
• High level of self motivation and ethics
• High standard of interpersonal skills, including self awareness
• Ability to work unsupervised and within a team environment
• Willingness to undertake relevant courses/studies if required
• Assist with Personal Care when required
• Assist with medication when required
• Full employment history: also include the year and level you completed your schooling

 Required checks and licenses needed:

• Current driver’s licence – copy to be provided
• Current RMS Driving Record – copy to be provided
• Covid-19 Vaccination – Digital Certificate to be provided
• Full employment history; also include the year and level you completed your schooling
• Satisfactory National Police check – less than 6 months old to be provided
• Have or willing to obtain a First Aid Certificate
• NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Worker Orientation Certificate is mandatory prior to commencement: https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/training-course
• NDIS Worker Clearance Screening – All successful applicants are required to obtain this clearance prior to commencement of employment with LFE. This is a mandatory clearance for the disability industry. More information can be found at Services NSW or you can speak to our HR team on 63801601

 Desirable criteria:

• Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)
• Experience in the field
• Certificate III / IV Disabilities, or relevant qualification
• Additional skills, e.g. Auslan, specialist hobbies
• Knowledge of Disability Service Standards; Disability Services Act; Cultural Diversity; EEO & WHS

 Conditions of Employment

• As per Social, Community, Home Care and  Disability Services  Industry Award 2010
• Subject to completion of satisfactory 6 month trial period
