Unscripted Supports is looking to grow their team of quality DSW’s to work across Supported Independent Living (SIL), Respite and Community Access in Ipswich and the surrounding area. As well as having good experience in all aspects of personal care, in home and community access supports, you will need a good understanding of working with participants who have challenging behaviours.
To build security for all, we are looking for workers with the desire for a long-term commitment and high availability, including working weekends and sleepover shifts.

The right worker/s will be offered casual hours for a probationary period, before being considered for permanent/part-time positions.
The Role
The role of Disability Support Workers will include (but is not limited to):
- Working within the scope of the role as a Disability Support Worker.
- Promote independence and skill building.
- Supporting clients with activities of daily living.
- Assisting with personal care.
- Assisting with medication and healthcare needs.
- Assisting with finances where required.
- Providing domestic assistance (house cleaning, washing, etc).
- Assisting with meal preparation.
- Providing companionship and emotional support.
- Transporting client to appointments and/or recreational activities as required.
- Completing accurate and legible reports and case notes promptly where required.
- Maintaining good professional boundaries within your role.
To be successful in this position you will require.
- Experience in working with people with disabilities and challenging behaviours.
- Flexibility and availability are essential in this role, with the ability to work a variety of shifts; morning, day, afternoon, evening, night and weekends.
- Strong Communication skills (includes verbal, written and listening).
- Experience supporting people with a disability in a professional capacity.
- Experience with supporting clients who have Positive Behaviour Support Plans.
- Knowledge of NDIS Quality and compliance requirements and guidelines and an understanding of the National Standards for Disability

Essential for this Role
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in working as a Disability Support Worker within a residential setting.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills and interpersonal, combined with a proactive and hands-on attitude.
- Demonstrated experience/knowledge in working with challenging behaviours.
- Be comfortable working independently as well as an active team member.
- A current Australian driver’s license.
- NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Worker Orientation Module Certificate is mandatory prior to commencement: https://www.ndiscommission.gov.au/workers/support-for-workers/training-course.
- Must hold a valid Yellow Card.
- Must hold a valid Blue Card.
- Proof of right to work in Australia.
