About the opportunity
As the newest member to our team, you'll be responsible for providing quality services and safeguards to our Participants to promote opportunities for meaningful participation and active inclusion in society. • Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Availability to work various shift types, including early morning, afternoon, evening, weekends, sleepovers and active nights
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Offer support to participants and assist them to participate in all lifestyle activities of their choice and meet daily living needs as well as to attain better social participation in their community.
- Positively engage, interact and work with people who have complex needs
- Possess a comprehensive knowledge of mental health and/or disability and the issues that are faced
- Ability to apply sensitivity, empathy, cultural awareness and an open-minded approach to personal matters
- Support and assist participants to achieve their goals and needs in relation to the approved NDIS plan.
- Provide weekday and weekend support as required by participants.
What we are looking for
As a passionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Worker, ideally, you'll have a:
• Have experience with personal care & medications
• Demonstrated experience with low to moderate complex behaviours
• Have experience with Urinary Devices, PEG, PEJ and Bowel Health and Bowel Care( desirable, but not necessary)
• Be able to work a 24/7 hr rotating roster which will include on call and emergency shifts
• High Manual handling experience such as hoist, standing machine.
• Must have great attention to details as client must be visually checked every 15 minutes for tidiness
• Two relevant, professional and industry related reference checks
• Current First Aid & CPR Certificate
• Certificate III in Individual Support /IV in Disability or equivalent (desirable) or other higher education which is related to Health Care and Mental Health
• Valid Driver's Licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle (desirable)
