Branch: City Resilience 

Salary Range: BAND 5 AUD $91,900 – $104,172 plus superannuation (Remuneration stated is for full-time positions) 

Work type: temporary part-time job share (3 x days p/w) until December 2025  

Location: Brisbane Square (CBD)  

About the Branch  

Council's City Resilience Branch is a dynamic and innovative branch who are responsible for the coordination of the Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery (PPRR) for "all hazards" emergency events that have community consequences in the Brisbane Local Government Area. We work with key stakeholders across local, state and federal government sectors to deliver Council's disaster management framework, develop policy and deliver strategies and programs in response to and in anticipation of, disaster events that may impact our city.  

We also provide a schedule of educational programs year-round to support community resilience in response to local disaster events.  

About the role 

We are seeking an experienced professional to work with us three days a week, Wednesday to Friday, who possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail and has the ability to manage tasks with accuracy and confidentiality. 

In this shared role of Disaster Operations Branch Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with another part-time colleague to provide business, coordination and administrative support within City Resilience in order to assist the branch and branch General Manager to meet customer service, branch, divisional and corporate business obligations. 

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:  

  • providing a broad range of efficient, proactive, and reliable business support services including preparation of written documentation, presentations, spreadsheets, internal and external correspondence, reports and graphic material 
  • providing accurate financial administration to meet corporate standards and timeframes including using Council’s financial and procurement systems to order goods and services and ensure on time payment of invoices 
  • day to day coordination and management of diary meetings, appointments, workshops, and forums 
  • providing high quality and professional administrative support to the branch and General Manager 
  • sharing of information and knowledge across the branch and provide back up and service when required to ensure continuity in the provision of business support activities across City Resilience 

 To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • strong administrative and project support service skills at senior management level and the demonstrated ability to handle and maintain confidentiality of information at all times  
  • the ability to assist with, prepare and edit written communications, memo’s, briefing notes, presentations, and formal submissions, within specified timeframes  
  • highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with an ability to adapt those skills in response to a varied stakeholder network and their formal requirements. 
  • a proactive mindset with initiative to anticipate needs and problem-solve. 
  • demonstrated organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage competing priorities, monitor and coordinate administrative processes to achieve tight timeframes and desired outcomes 
  • demonstrated experience in computer-based software and corporate systems e.g., Microsoft Office, Outlook, Records Manager, CMX 

Please note: this role requires active participation in the Local Disaster Coordination Centre (LDCC) with reasonable after-hours activities and overtime when required by business needs and/or disaster events. 

This role requires a Criminal History Check for preferred candidates.
