Job description

The Role:

As part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services, the Discipline Senior Psychologist - Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) will:

  • Provide specialist psychology assessment, treatment and assertive case management to CAMHS clients, utilising evidence-based best practice principles within a collaborative and multi-disciplinary framework.
  • Assist the Allied Health Director – CAMHS to ensure the quality of clinical psychology work through the implementation of the model of professional accountability and supervision and participation.
  • Act as a consultant to other agencies with regard to the support and management of infants, children and adolescents with mental health needs and promotes awareness in relation to the mental health of this cohort.
  • Take a lead role in on-going service development and intersectoral liaison, as part of the CAMHS Leadership Group.
  • Provide support to Psychologists within the team and students of Psychology, including provision of clinical supervision.
  • Participate in the review of service delivery planning for the team and provides input into determining service delivery priorities.

The CAMHS South Community team:

The CAMHS South Community team provide expert mental health interventions to children and young people in the community living with a mental illness. The team is currently undergoing a period of expansion, and now is an exciting time to join us!

Details of Appointment

Fixed term full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $120,114 - $130,181 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $126,845 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 
  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
  2. Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
  3. Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration
  4. Area of Practice Endorsement ie, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Counselling Psychology, Community Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Psychology, or Sport and Exercise Psychology (Where required for a particular role)

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Relevant postgraduate qualifications in staff supervision, leadership or management
  2. Registration as a supervisor with the Psychology Board of Australia

  3. serious drug offences
