The vacancy is ideally going to be based from either the Swan Hill, Wangaratta, Shepparton or Seymour workshops. Other locations may be considered.CFA critically relies on its fleet of firefighting and specialist appliances in order to meet its service delivery obligations to Victorian communities. The Fleet Maintenance department is part of the Fleet & Protective Equipment team and is responsible for the maintenance, refurbishment and disposal of over 2000 first response appliances and equipment.Grade 4 District Mechanical Officers carry out mechanical tasks associated with the maintenance and servicing of fleet assets as directed by the Officer-in-Charge ensuring relevant safety standards and CFA maintenance procedures are adhered to.Your days will see you showcase your skills undertaking the following tasks:
- Ensure fleet assets & aerial appliances are maintained in accordance with appropriate standards and relevant codes of practice.
- Prepare requisitions for materials / parts, as required.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on work performed and materials used.
- Create electronic Work Orders utilising CFA software.
- There is a requirement to participate in the duty roster at the assigned workshop for A/H response for mechanical breakdowns and to be available for recall to support operational incidents, or as required.
- There is a requirement to be contactable to provide technical advice related to specialist appliances.
- Qualifications:
- Successful completion of technical training/qualifications related to specialised vehicle mounted elevated work platforms and telescopic booms
- Proven ability to work independently
- Proven experience in the maintenance of hydraulic systems and components
- Awareness of Australian mechanical structures/welding standards and testing techniques
