We are seeking someone with experience working within the Domestic and Family Violence space, to assist with managing the referrals into the Domestic & Family Violence Program working closely with the team. The role works in a supportive environment with a great team. The CatholicCare Central Queensland and Helem Yumba Domestic & Family Violence Response program provides a range of collaborative and person-centred support interventions to adults, children and young people who are experiencing, or who are at risk of experiencing, Domestic and Family Violence. The partnership between CatholicCare and Helem Yumba is a first for our region, ensuring that all Domestic and Family Violence supports are provided in a culturally safe way. This is an exciting time to be joining our team as we embark on this innovative journey towards enhancing services for our region.

About the Role

The Intake & CHARRT Officer is a key role that is responsible for managing the referrals into the Domestic & Family Violence Program including referrals into the Behaviour Change Program and the Co-ordinated High-Risk Response Team (CHaRRT).

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Reviewing all referrals received into the program and undertaking an initial screening to determine if the client is appropriate for the service.
  • Contacting clients identified as being eligible for the program to determine if they would like to engage with the service. If clients are willing to engage, scheduling an intake session with a support worker.
  • Using an established framework, prioritize clients with higher levels of risk and maintain a waitlist where support workers do not have capacity to complete intakes in a timely manner. Report on the wait list to the Team Leaders and General Manager weekly.
  • Reviewing CHARRT referrals against the programs criteria and prepare the meeting packs for the CHARRT Chair prior to the meeting.
  • Regularly review waitlist and reassess to determine if the priority rating has changed or if the client is no longer wanting to engage with the service.

What Qualifications and Experience we're looking for

  • Relevant Diploma in Social/Human Services (desirable); and
  • 1- 2 years relevant experience working within the Domestic & Family Violence environment and/or other similar social services.
  • Current Queensland C Class Driver’s licence

In addition to the above, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to effectively follow, implement and communicate the intake processes and systems to all relevant parties.
  • Excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with clients, external stakeholders and diverse teams.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to provide client assessments on safety and risk.
  • Some knowledge of trauma informed practice and attachments relating to domestic Family Violence within family systems.
  • Excellent ICT skills.

The successful candidate will also be required to demonstrate entitlement to work in Australia, and to disclose any pre-existing injury or disease which may be adversely affected by undertaking the inherent requirements of the position.

All offers of employment are subject to the satisfactory completion of relevant screening and background checks, including an Australian Federal Police check, an NDIS disability worker screening check, and attainment of a Blue Card for working with children, prior to commencement.
