Domestic Meat Trader Primary Objective:
The Domestic Trader will focus on maintaining the current customer and supplier base, while developing the fast-growing domestic trades, primarily in meat and seafood, as well as general grocery and commodities. You will be a driven, passionate, and professional team player, who has a common focus on delivering the best possible product with an optimum level of service and meeting company targets.
- Research and compare suppliers, goods, and services to select the most suitable based on reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency.
- Negotiate contracts and prices, maintain long-term supplier relationships, and aggressively drive sales within the Australian market.
- Develop and implement strategies to penetrate target markets and create new business opportunities, with a focus on the domestic sectors.
- Coordinate trades with customers and suppliers, ensuring optimal outcomes for the business and effective stock level management at third-party storage facilities.
- Demonstrate professional business acumen and exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
- Proactively address trading issues, liaise with key stakeholders, and contribute positively as a team member to achieve objectives.
- Required local travel within Australia, including occasional trips to Sydney, Melbourne, or other states.
Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience in purchasing, procurement, and sales in fast-paced environments.
- Understanding of sales and marketing principles, including negotiation skills for protein products.
- Familiarity with HACCP and regulatory standards in the industry.
- Minimum 3 years within a Meat Sales environment
