The Company
Curtis Electrical is a family-owned company that has a reputation for delivering quality work on time with a great team vibe in a safe manner. With an increased workload due to some major long-term projects recently awarded in addition to our regular planned work, Curtis Electrical is looking to expand our team to meet growing client requirements. About the role:
Reporting directly to the Curtis Electrical Division Manager and leading Hand . You will:
- Meet with the client and Curtis Electrical Division Manager, then provide input for the project at hand ranging from $1000-$50,000 using the client scope, wiring rules and Australian standards, Client requirements and our company standards as the base line
- Work productively in a small team on site. You will be expected to be hands on whilst also working within the client’s time frame and materials on hand
- Be trained to follow schematic drawings and diagrams for the connection and retro fit out and alterations to PLC’s, VSD’s, Commercial and industrial switchboards, Control panels and Data Systems
- Be able or willing to be trained to work on Alcoa’s HV network including connection, maintenance and upgrading of switchgear and powerline equipment
- Be involved with cable pulling, Installing, tying in of various cables from data and LV to Control and Hv cabling of all sizes and lengths
- Be willing to learn or competent in completing minor fab work of brackets, cable tray and supports as well as alterations to existing
- Trained to be competent installing PVC and steal conduit work to high level and attention to detail
- Be capable to measure, cut drill, or penetrate substations, switchboards, gland plates or buildings to install tray work or electrical services
- Train to be competent for the connections of Alcoa Mining Operations equipment such as motors, substations, pump, air conditioners, portable dongas, belt reelers, PLCs and HV equipment
- Assist with shutdown executions
- Undertake and comply to Alcoa mining site requirements for access to operational areas
- Use of our own EWPs, scissor lifts, Insulated bucket trucks, trucks and Hiabs as well as loading and unloading of job specific equipment
- Assist with testing, handover and commissioning support to Alcoa engineers and project officers for the projects you have been working on
- Assist with other small electrical tasks for other site-based contractors within the mining area including testing and tagging, data and power installations and minor repairs
- Follow all site safety rules and instructions actively participating in meetings as required
- Complete all safety documentation and associated permits to a high standard
- Complete all Curtis Electrical electronic job notes and test sheets on SimPro to a high standard.
- Company vehicle shall be supplied and must be kept clean and tidy at all times to company standards

The successful candidate must have prior to commencement:
- Current A grade Electrical License
- Australian citizen or resident with full rights to work in Australia
- Be drug and alcohol free and be able to pass pre-employment and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing.
Desirable:
- High Risk License including EWP
- Working at heights
- Restricted AC installer
- Current HR driver’s license
- Excellent Domestic or Commercial fault-finding skills
- Show reasoning on how your prior skills learnt would be beneficial to a industrial mining role
- Experience with scheduling job systems such as SimPro
- Basic Welding and Fab work skills
Location and Details
Alcoa Mining Operations at Huntly and Willowdale Mine Sites - The successful candidate must be willing to travel daily and also attend head office in Waroona for team meetings, training and collection of equipment.
9 day fortnight roster / 10 hour days Monday-Friday/Monday-Thursday
