Job description

McKay Drilling is a leading WA based drilling company specialising in all areas of Diamond and Reverse Circulation.

We are seeking an exceptional Drilling Supervisor who will be responsible for achieving consistent, safe drilling with minimum downtime operation and with maximum sample recovery to meet Client contractual objectives. 

This will involve supervising and coaching team members to meet production schedules in a manner that complies with all safety policies and other requirements. 

As a Supervisor, you will generally have responsibility for a supervising shift with between one to six rigs and report to the Operations Superintendent.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Coordinate and allocate work as required to meet drilling plans and run rigs in most cost-effective/efficient ways whilst meeting safety compliance requirements, including the coordination of relief teams as required.

Ensure all equipment breakdowns, non-routine maintenance and safety faults are identified, addressed and rectified in accordance with safety and Company operating procedures, report any major faults, breakdowns to the Operations Coordinator. 

Ensure all ancillary equipment is maintained, and that the preventative maintenance of all drilling equipment and vehicles is carried out in accordance with the Preventative Maintenance Schedule.

Complete and approve daily rig reports to send to contracts administrators for payroll and client invoicing requirements.

Provide technical advice to co-workers to effectively manage rig and down-hole problems. 

Conduct daily team meetings, shift changeovers, briefings and discuss team performance to ensure two-way communication is maintained and relevant workplace issues can be addressed promptly. 

Undertake checks at commencement of shift to ensure all drills have correct materials in use. 

Maintain consistent communication with Clients regarding the progress of the drilling program. 

Ensure compliance with all safety policies and SWP's.

Assist team members in development of safe methods of work through risk assessments and JSA's. 

Address all breaches and non-compliance with safety policies, SWP's, Company policy and procedures with individuals in accordance with coaching, counselling and discipline procedures, report to Operations Superintendent and consult with HR as required to determine appropriate action to implement. 

 Lead investigations of all incidents/hazard management issues that occur in work areas and on shift and ensure effective corrective actions are identified, implemented and monitored in a timely and productive manner. 

Regularly monitor employee performance, conduct reviews and provide regular and timely feedback that provides constructive and actionable feedback to the employee.

PERSON SPECIFICATION: 
Candidate must be an experienced and competent Senior Driller with a minimum of five year's drilling experience and adequate supervisory exposure. 

Proven understanding of multiple drilling processes and principles.

Service focused with exceptional communication skills, high attention to detail, professional work ethic, excellent time management and organisation, and ability to work a part of and lead teams. 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Cert IV in Drilling Operations.
HR Drivers Licence

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
FIFO 2/1 ex Perth, subject to change dependent on operational requirements.

Remote locations, working in small teams

Applicant must be physically fit and will be required to pass pre-employment medical and regular drug and alcohol screenings.
