About the role:
- As a Drug & Alcohol Aboriginal Health professional, you will provide a crucial link and connect with community members, teams, services and virtual clinics.
- Your day comprises of providing support, advice, education, cultural expertise and knowledge into best practices for DACS.
- You will also be an advocate and liaison for Aboriginal community members and kin.
- The successful applicant will be supported by the Aboriginal DACS Manager, Line Manager, immediate team members, DACS District Manager, fellow colleagues of the HNE DACS team; and, Aboriginal peers and programs that provide levels of cultural support and networking. You will also be connected to the local facility staff and management on site.
- Orientation programs will be communicated, and learning comprises of online and classroom education. Further to this, educational opportunities can be discussed as aspirations align with development plans and for this position.
Where you'll be working:
- The successful candidate will be located in either Taree which is beautiful Biripi/Worimi country. It is known for its Regional Art Gallery (Taree) that hosts selections from local artists and visiting exhibitions.
- As an Aboriginal member of the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services team, you will be enhancing the services and support to the local community and more broadly as outreach spreads beyond.
- The local DACS team consists of nursing and allied health professionals on site, whilst also being connected to a larger DACS workforce and health professionals across the local health district.

Requirements:
- Holds or aspires to hold a minimum Certificate III qualification in Aboriginal Primary Health Care or a minimum Certificate III health qualification with a desire to complete a Certificate IV Aboriginal Primary Health Care (Practice) or other relevant health qualification deemed appropriate by the manager, following appointment to the position through supported education, training and study leave.
- Eligible to drive in NSW and the ability to travel as required.
