The role
MidCoast Council's Land Use Planning team works closely with Council, our community, development industry and government agencies to deliver sustainable Land Use planning controls for our region. We are committed to managing Council's future planning framework to enable innovative, practical, and ecologically sustainable outcomes in line with Council's Corporate and Business Plans.
The Senior Land Use Planner is an exciting leadership opportunity within our team. This position supports the implementation of the Local Environmental Plan, Development Control Plan, Development Contribution Plan and Urban Release Area Program. Specialist knowledge and strategic vision will be integral in presenting strategic planning issues to internal departments, Councillors, community and the NSW Department Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to employee performance and development and foster a positive, collaborative team culture.
- Track multiple project timelines, budgets and contractor and consultant work activities.
- Negotiate and prepare Planning Agreements for the delivery of land or assets by external parties associated with future development.
- Develop and implement high quality community engagement programs relating to Land Use Planning projects.
What you'll bring
- Qualifications and previous experience in Urban and Regional Planning (or similar).
- Extensive knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and other relevant legislation.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a commitment to motivating and empowering others.

Salary: Salary range $102,007 - $112,000 p.a. plus superannuation. (Negotiable based on skills and experience).
A vehicle arrangement will be made with the successful candidate for this role. Council will provide you with a leaseback vehicle for an annual fee calculated as 20% of the gross purchase price. This is a fully maintained vehicle for both business and full private use with no additional expenses in normal use.
Location: This position will be based at our Administration Centre in Yalawanyi Ganya at 2 Biripi Way, Taree. You may also be required to be based from other Council sites across the MidCoast Council region.
Tenure: Permanent, Full Time 35 hours per week.
