At Mater we proudly offer a unique graduate Dual Degree program available for newly qualified Registered Nurse/Midwives.
Our Dual Degree Nursing & Midwifery Graduate Program offer the opportunity to work in a supportive hospital environment for your first 18 months, allowing you to learn on the job, as you transition from academic learning to professional practice.
The duration of the graduate program is 18 months, after which you will transfer into a post-graduate position. We offer a range of programs, across a variety of clinical areas. We offer 64 hours per fortnight on a permanent basis starting on Monday 19 August 2024.
As part of our nursing staff, you will need to be available to participate in a rotational shift roster (including morning, evening and night shift) on a 24/7 roster. Important to note: Your 6 month nursing placement could be in OR Hospital so you will need to be comfortable to travel to either.
Program consists of:
- 18-month Dual Degree midwifery program based at South Brisbane (first 12 months at South Brisbane, the last 6 months at South Brisbane OR Redlands)
- Graduates will complete a placement in midwifery for the first 12 months and then a nursing placement for the final 6 months before transitioning to permanent employment
- Birth Suite & Pregnancy Assessment Centre (PAC)
- Antenatal Clinic OR Antenatal Ward
- Postnatal Ward
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated nursing/midwifery graduates, who are excited to learn and develop within a world class health care setting. You will have the opportunity to broaden your clinical knowledge though education, strong support, coaching and mentoring.
In order to be applicable for our graduate program; you will have completed a nursing/midwifery qualification within the past 12 months and have less than six months or 900 hours post-graduate registered nursing/midwifery experience.
