Sage Hotel James Street is looking for a Duty Manager to join the team. The hotel is built around the historic Queens Arms (QA), this 93-room hotel seamlessly combines the traditional façade with modern hotel interiors. Guests enjoy exploring the surrounding designer shops, bars and restaurants that make the iconic James Street precinct so unique. With 93 rooms, it is a digitally-savvy and locally-connected hotel. Amidst the fashionable surroundings of James Street, the hotel is applauded for its locally-sourced, decorations, and mini-bar amenities, celebrating the neighbourhood.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, as the Duty Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the front desk operations. You and your team will provide guests with an experience that exceeds their expectations throughout their stay.
Position Requirements:
- To assist in all aspects of running the front desk and supporting the team
- Warmly welcome guests upon arrival and ensure a seamless check-in/check-out experience is delivered
- Coordinate and oversee the running of the hotel in the absence of Operations Manager.
- Handle and resolve any guest concerns effectively with confidence and in a professional manner
- Answer all incoming calls promptly and pleasantly and provide appropriate assistance
- Responsible to maintain an updated MOD log on every shift
- Check rooms, making sure any special requests are carried out accordingly
- Be level headed to handle any emergencies within the hotel, including acting as the Chief Fire Warden and First Aid Officer
- Experience in overnights and rolling the system seen as advantageous

Skills and experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- MUST have supervisory Hotel Front Office experience
- The flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, including public holidays and weekends.
- Open Manual licence or willingness to obtain one
- Understanding of Front Office Procedures and Systems
- A current First Aid Certificate
