Estrella Preschool, set within the leafy surrounds of Watson Park in Ashburton, provides high-quality, government funded 3- and 4-year-old sessional kindergarten curriculums. For over seventy years Estrella has nurtured children through their early educational journey. We are proudly an inclusive community run kindergarten, supported by a dedicated community of volunteers and staff, working together to provide the best outcomes for our children and families. Description
Estrella Preschool is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Diploma qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our friendly and supportive team in Term 1, 2024. We welcome applications from educators who enjoy being and learning with place, with others and with nature, sharing and supporting children's thinking and communicating of ideas. The successful applicant will have a high level of initiative and enthusiasm for working collaboratively, maintaining a safe and inviting learning environment, contributing to curriculum assessment, design and delivery, and leading ongoing projects and group learning experiences. She/he/they will share the team's commitment to the community engagement, professional growth and quality improvement, supporting our high quality programs with a good understanding of child development, Child Safe Standards, and the National Quality Framework. Have good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively adults and children.
Use initiative, be organised, friendly, and enthusiastic.
Provide inclusive, child-safe, developmentally appropriate and antibias education and care for kindergarten aged children.
Build respectful relationships with adults and children, and implement routines that nurture children's agency, encourage independence, and foster positive learning dispositions.
Support delivery of a Nature Play program in the curriculum and promote and engage in our sustainable living principles and practices, including learning about conservation.
Work cooperatively and collaboratively within a team of educators and teachers, supporting your colleagues and team leader.
Role model best practice and show enthusiastic commitment to continuous quality improvement.
Participate in ongoing documentation of curriculum and children’s learning and development records, including observations and other data, assessments, planning and reflection.
Experience or interest in bush kinder programs will be highly valued.

Skills and Competencies required:
Good communications skills and a genuine passion for providing excellent education and care for children.
A good understanding and knowledge of Early Childhood development.
Ability to provide developmentally appropriate education and care programs for the children in partnership with an Early Childhood Teacher and kindergarten stakeholders.
Knowledge of and understanding of the EYLF, VEYLDF, the National Quality Standard, National Law and Regulations, and the Australian Early Childhood Code of Ethics.
Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively with staff, parents and professionals.
A friendly, cooperative, and professional approach to working with staff, other professionals, parents and the committee.
Attendance at staff meetings and undertaking professional development is an expectation of all staff.
Qualifications
Applicants must have an approved
ACECQA approved Certificate III or Diploma level qualification, (interest in further study is supported).
First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
WWCC
Mandatory Reporting training certificate
Food Safety Training certificate
