Welcome to St. Luke's Early Learning Community (ELC) in Chapman. At St Luke's, we have developed a contemporary, innovative, holistic play-based curriculum that consistently inspires self-confident, independent, inquisitive learners. Guided by the principles of Reggio Emilia's early learning and underpinned by the Early Years Framework for Australia (Belonging, Being and Becoming).
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing high-quality, developmentally appropriate educational programs for children.
- Actively support and engage every child in the program, promoting their agency, choices, and influence.
- Provide a healthy, safe, and welcoming environment for all children.
- Adhere to strict health and hygiene practices, including compliance with food safety, medical management, and risk management plans and policies.
- Share housekeeping tasks related to program preparation, packing, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
- Participate in annual performance development reviews and orient new staff members.
- Develop and sustain strong, respectful relationships with all children and families.
- Actively encourage and facilitate parental involvement in the Early Learning Centre's activities and programs.
- Ensure all practices align with the National Quality Standards (NQS) and reflect the Early Learning Centre's philosophy, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) or equivalent approved by ACECQA (or working towards)
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the National Quality Framework (NQF) and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)
- A highly motivated and committed individual who can work effectively independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to balance autonomy with collaborative teamwork.
- Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders, including colleagues, families, and external partners.
- Effective problem-solving abilities and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying and resolving issues constructively and diplomatically.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain culturally appropriate relationships.
- Sound understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation and its implications for education and care services. Ability to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
Other requirements:
- Current Working with Vulnerable People (ACT) card.
- First Aid, Asthma, and Anaphylaxis Management training.
- Food Safety, Handling and Hygiene training.
