KU James Cahill has been involved in research projects that aim to support educators and families in their understanding of how to nurture children’s social and emotional wellbeing. The service is an extended hours service and opens Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm that offers 48 places to preschool aged children.
Children are presented with a range of activities including gardening, arts and crafts, music and movement, physical play, block building, sand and water play, science experiments, early numeracy activities such as counting and measurement, and early literacy activities such as reading, drawing and writing. We acknowledge our physical environments as the ‘third teacher’, we want children to be able to dig in the mud, climb trees, discover and learn about insects and enjoy connecting with nature.
The Role
Due to an increase of enrolments, this permanent, full time teaching position is available for an enthusiastic professional that will work alongside the Director and current teacher to support the team to meet and exceed the National Quality Standards. You will deliver play based programs that helps children discover their sense of self, as well as their sense of security and belonging.

Of course, you will need:
- Australian working rights
- A current NSW Working with Children Check
- An ACECQA recognised Early Childhood Teaching degree
- Completed Child Protection Training as well as demonstrated understanding of current child safe practices
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates along with current separate approved Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management certificates
- NESA Teacher Accreditation
- Sound understanding of the Education and Care Services National Law (2010) and the Education and Care Services National Regulations (2011)
- Working knowledge of the Early Years Learning Frameworks (EYLF)
