About this opportunity
As the Economic Development Officer, you will play a pivotal in leading the implementation of Economic Development strategies and initiatives whilst growing the region's economy.
Additionally, you’ll also …
- Deliver various projects as outlined in the Scenic Rim Regional Prosperity Strategy within Council's operational budget.
- Lead the implementation of actions identified within the Regional Prosperity Strategy 2020-2025, Agribusiness and Agritourism Industry Development Roadmap 2022-2032 and the Smart Region Strategy.
- Assist the Principal Specialist in the preparation of progress reports, Strategy Report Cards and investment attraction initiatives.
- Act as the key liaison for the region's business and industry sector and regularly communicate subjects of potential interest or value while taking on board the sector's feedback.
- Also, act as the primary point of contact within Council for programs, including being the primary point of contact with the region's four chambers of commerce and the Scenic Rim Strategic Coordination Group.
- Fulfill a secretariat function for key working and steering groups involving business, industry and community members, and key stakeholders in government departments.
About you…
- Tertiary qualification of degree level in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- High level interpersonal skills and an ability to connect effectively with, and gain cooperation from key decision makers in government and business and industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with a range of organisations and agencies including Government departments, industry representative groups, local tourism organisations, chambers of commerce and training organisations.
- A current C class driver’s licence.
