Economic Development Officer

The Position

The Economic Development Officer is responsible for implementing and delivering a broad range of strategic and operational economic focused projects and initiatives. This role will actively participate in the delivery of Economic Development projects that support business resilience, growth and sustainability throughout the region. The activities and deliverables will positively contribute to delivering the Growing Stronger Together 2033 Economic Development Strategy vision and direction through a collaborative approach with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

• Facilitate business development that results in economic recovery and sustainability for the Cassowary Coast Region.
• In conjunction with Principal Economic Development, undertake the development and Delivery of strategic plans, operations and business plans.
• Support the Growing Stronger Together 2032 – Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan
• In partnership with the Economic Development Advisory Committee provide support to develop and implement a Shopfront Improvement Scheme aimed at encouraging building owners and business operators to invest in renovations and storefront improvements for their building.
• Respond to requests from the business community for information and services that will further their business prospects.
• Undertake research and data analysis, compile research papers, reports, funding submissions and grant applications.
• Participate in the preparation and delivery of a range of business support services and events (e.g. organising functions).
• Actively contribute to and participate in the delivery of key Council projects.
• Complete additional activities and reasonable directions given by management.
