We are seeking an Education Producer to join our dedicated team to drive our drama education programs that encourage participation and development of young artists.  This role is suited to someone who is highly motivated, is able to manage the requirements of a diverse operational environment and who will enjoy being involved in theatre making and the arts.

Role snapshot

The Education Producer works closely with the Associate Artistic Director (Education and Youth) to develop and produce education programs across Queensland that encourage participation and development of young artists and support drama education.   Key features of the role include:

  • Develop, produce and deliver specific education drama programs and resources.
  • Coordinate in-school workshops, Artists in Residence (metro and regional) and teacher professional development activity.
  • Provide support for the development and implementation of primary school and early years based activity.
  • Provide strategic and specialist advice on curriculum, pedagogy and schools engagement 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the education sector and a broad range of school drama and education teachers, teaching artists and artists across Queensland.
  • Prepare teacher briefings, online resources and post-show Q&A sessions to support programs. 
  • Ensure appropriate policies and practices are implemented and communicated to ensure safe work and engagement with young people.
  • Ensure that artists who work on education and youth projects are suitably inducted, briefed and have positive, productive and enjoyable work experiences.

Who we are looking for – selection criteria

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:-

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Education, ideally with a Drama qualification.
  • At least five years’ experience working in an arts education role with young people with demonstrated experience as a school drama teacher.
  • Familiarity with and understanding of the Australian Curriculum particularly in Secondary Drama, English and cross curricular priorities. 
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills and an ability to lead a team managing simultaneous projects within tight schedules and timelines.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in project/program planning and delivery.
  • Strong understanding of working with children standards and a strong commitment to providing a child-safe environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team player as well as independently.
  • Passion and commitment to the performing arts and fostering that passion in young people and their communities.

Mandatory requirement

A Queensland Blue Card (working with children check) or equivalent Queensland Teachers check is required for this role.

Desirable

  1. Experience working across a range of education settings including metropolitan, regional, independent and state school environments.
  2. Strong networks across Queensland Drama Educators.
  3. Experience working with a broad age range and familiarity with primary, secondary and early years curriculum, or willingness and interest to explore these areas.
  4. Experience in the performing arts as a producer or theatre-maker.

You will be highly motivated, have a positive attitude and be self-directed with an ability to collaborate in a busy environment and to think creatively and analytically to achieve results.

The is a fixed-term part-time role with standard work hours 30.4 hours per week (0.8 FTE).
