About the role:
AGA is currently seeking an individual for a 2024 start, who has a passion for supporting vulnerable students in a classroom setting. The successful trainee will work alongside the teacher assistant and under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher supporting students. This opportunity is based in a Secondary School, located in Preston, and will see the trainee work 30 hours per week, Monday - Friday within school hours.

About you:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to follow instructions from teachers as well as use initiative
- Compassionate, caring and patient
- Capable of providing physical and emotional support to students
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Willing to attend RTO/TAFE training, during school holidays
- Valid Victorian Working with Children Check
- Able to commit to a 12 month Traineeship
What you will do:
- Providing routine support for teachers
- Assisting with planning of student routines
- Communicating with teachers about routine matters
- Communicating with student/s to support comprehension of basic tasks and information
- Addressing immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedures
- Provide basic support and supervision for individuals or small groups of up to four students within a classroom setting
