About The BUSY Schools…

The BUSY Schools are part of The BUSY Group, a not-for-profit organisation presenting over 45 years as a community partner providing employment services, vocational education and training, apprenticeships, mentoring, NDIS, disability employment support, and allied health services.

The BUSY Schools are independent Special Assistance Schools with 7 campuses across Cairns, Brisbane, and Gold Coast/Coolangatta, providing an alternative program for Year 11 and 12 students who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.

Each campus provides a supportive and safe learning environment for young people by providing them with an education program that includes vocational education and training (VET), work experience and opportunities for school-based apprenticeships and traineeships. Our team support the students to gain employability and transferability skills to increases their sense of wellbeing, resilience, belonging, academic achievement, career exploration and employment outcomes.

Our teams’ focus is centred at re-engaging our students to learn, remain eligible for a Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and gain employment or further training outcomes upon student’s graduation from Year 12.


About the position...

You will be required to case manage at-risk youth through assessment, case planning, implementation, monitoring and review. You will monitor student attendance data and implementing intervention strategies to assist students and families to maintain minimum 85% attendance. As a Youth Worker, your aims to improve outcomes for vulnerable young people and families through integrated and coordinated service delivery.

About you...

  • Proven ability to develop cooperative working relationships with broad range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure outcomes for students are achieved
  • You have knowledge and experience in working with youth in a vocational education pathway.
  • Excellent communicator, a promoter who is influential with the ability to seek and secure opportunities
