The Role
The Assurance and Performance Manager will lead a team responsible for the planning and management of assurance checks on engineering and logistics activities in support of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Utilising a range of processes and technologies (e.g. audits, desk-top reviews, research, market analysis, etc.), the role will lead a team who analyse and report on logistics planning, practices and processes, technical regulation controls and Industry Partner deliverables.The successful candidate will
  • Apply expertise in legislation and logistics policy to provide advice on governance matters. You will identify and manage logistics risks, issues and opportunities, with recommendations for changes to ensure compliance and to improve supply chain resilience in support of the current and future needs of the ADF.
  • Be accountable for leading a team, managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes.
  • Provide clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people. They will liaise with team members and identify, assess, prioritise and coordinate quality assurance, governance and reporting activities.
  • Be responsible for accurate completion of work within timeframes and quality requirements, sharing their own expertise with others, guiding and mentoring less experienced employees. They will plan, lead and manage quality assurance, governance, auditing and corporate reporting activities and identify improvements for quality assurance processes and practices.
  • Manage strategic audits and reviews of quality assurance systems in the areas of strategic and business planning, quality management, performance measurement, continuous improvement and business and corporate management. They will implement and provide advice on efficient and effective quality assurance, governance and business reporting functionalities.
  • Apply knowledge of operational environments to identify issues and recommend solutions to achieve outcomes.
  • Engage and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders on quality assurance activities to ensure expected outcomes are achieved;
  • Evaluate, monitor and report on quality assurance operations and ensure compliance with relevant requirements; and design and implement strategies to enhance the effectiveness of quality assurance, governance and risk management processes.

The Maritime Cross Platform Systems Program Office (MCPSPO) within Maritime Systems Division, is the lead agency for delivery of cross-class sustainment services and advice across the maritime environment. MCPSPO sustains and manages a range of complex military systems and supplies, through an extensive network of industry partners, domestic and off-shore.Our operating environment is complex and challenging, and requires exceptional contract and relationship management skills. MCPSPO is comprised of three functions, including Commercial, Sustainment and Engineering cells.   • Sound knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
  • Accountability for accurate completion of work within timeframes, share own expertise with others and guide and mentor less experienced employees.
  • An excellent level of stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to identify, anticipate and respond to stakeholder’s needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes.
  • Relationship management experience and an understanding of contract management principles.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear and concise correspondence, briefs and reports.
  • Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn and understand the sustainment environment, and Integrated Logistics Systems (ILS) practices within the domain.
  • Ability to work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
  • A growth mindset, with a willingness to learn and contribute to a successful team environment.
