The Role
Navy Infrastructure is looking for a talented and driven Strategic Planner to join our Canberra team. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our organisation, helping us to identify opportunities, manage risk, and achieve our goals.
As the Strategic Planner, with your exceptional analytical, verbal and written skills, you will provide insightful guidance and recommendations to senior leadership, enabling us to make informed future infrastructure decisions.

About our Team
Navy Infrastructure provides advice to Defence senior leadership on matters relating to Navy infrastructure and facilities projects from future planning through to delivery. We are responsible for analysing and articulating Navy’s Facilities and Infrastructure related needs, including priorities and future direction in the context of the Defence strategic environment. We maintain strong partnerships with Defence stakeholders and relevant parties to ensure that Navy’s infrastructure and facilities requirements are captured and delivered.
Working for Navy Infrastructure, you will be managing a team in long-term planning focussing on maritime infrastructure and facilities projects.

Our Ideal Candidate
To be successful in these management roles, you will require:
  • Capability; experience in a strategic infrastructure role or ability to demonstrate relevant experience and knowledge from similar employment.
  • Management; strong leadership skills that will enable you to oversee cross-functional teams of military, public service employees, contractors, and relevant parties, ensuring that organisational goals and objectives are met.
  • Confidence; ability to communicate confidently and an aptitude for business writing, preparing reports and presentations to senior leaders, and other relevant parties.
  • Strategic thinking; talent in identifying and articulating organisational objectives, developing plans and strategies to meet goals, and contributing to various planning activities, briefing senior leadership, and responding to parliamentary correspondence and media enquiries.
  • Decision-making; ability to anticipate and manage risks and issues, taking appropriate actions to mitigate these risks and resolve any problems that arise to ensure the successful development of critical infrastructure initiatives compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Integrity and Leadership; demonstrating honesty, fairness, and consistency in actions and decisions, building a positive working environment, and maintaining trust and credibility through taking ownership of actions. Trusted by senior leadership to follow through on commitments through a strong sense of personal responsibility, and ability to ask for support when needed.
