The Role
An EL 1Physiotherapist Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex physiotherapy assessments, treatments and rehabilitative work within an integrated workforce. They will require an in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
An EL 1Physiotherapist Manager will exercise a considerable degree of independence and perform a leadership role. They will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide expert policy advice. They will have in-depth knowledge of the physiotherapy field and are responsible for the development, implementation, compliance and review of policies and procedures relevant to their work within that field.
An EL 1Physiotherapist Manager will be responsible for actively managing key stakeholder relationships and will be required to identify relevant stakeholders’ expectations and concerns to develop and communicate methodologies and practices to achieve outcomes. They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development of their work area.
About our Team
Joint Health Command (JHC) is responsible for the delivery of military medicine and joint healthcare services to over 70,000 Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel. JHC is also responsible for the health preparedness of ADF personnel for operations, and the coordination of health units for deployment in support of operations.
The Physiotherapist Manager is part of Joint Health Unit - Central New South Wales within JHC and is based at Defence Plaza Sydney, NSW. This position reports to the JHU CNSW Commanding Officer. Working in a truly blended workforce of military, APS and contracted staff the ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy working collaboratively and collegiately to generate excellent health care results.
Our Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will demonstrate extensive physiotherapy experience, critical thinking skills, be proficient at analysing workflows and business processes, provide recommendations for improvements to enhance efficiency and outcomes, and manage the implementation of agreed actions.
They will have experience in managing, developing and mentoring staff through performance appraisal and change, providing expert clinical mentoring and training to assist in the development of staff. They will work within a regional team whilst applying a structured and nationally consistent service, as directed by policy and their technical chain.
Although based at Defence Plaza Sydney, the successful candidate will at times be required to travel to Defence establishments within Sydney and NSW south coast regions.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic to foster and maintain strong and effective professional relationships between various stakeholders within the Department of Defence as well as contracted external agencies.
