The Role
The Proactive Assurance Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and deliver complex work within an integrated workforce.
The Proactive Assurance Manager is accountable to plan, lead and manage a range of human and physical resources and to achieve assurance outcomes. They develop and implement work plans, review individual, team and business performance, and identify opportunities to build team capability and continuously improve. They will manage one or more teams.
The Proactive Assurance Manager manages key stakeholder relationships, identifies expectations and concerns, and develops and implements approaches to achieve outcomes. They also exercise sound decision-making and judgement, and provide expert advice.
The Proactive Assurance Manager has in-depth knowledge of the quality assurance function and is responsible for development, implementation, compliance with, and review of the function’s policies and procedures.
This Proactive Assurance Manager applies their people management skills and knowledge to lead a high performing and cohesive team.
About our Team
Directorate of Engineering – Army (DENG-A) supports its Director, and the Technical Regulatory Authority – Land (TRA-L), with the development and maintenance of regulations, policy and guidance for land materiel maintenance and safety, and the provision of monitoring, assurance and advisory activities. DENG-A undertakes outcome-focused regulatory activities that complement land capability requirements, and provides advice and support in relation to the management and governance of safety and environmental hazards and risks of land materiel.
Within DENG-A, Proactive Assurance engages with stakeholders and performs and reports on audit and assurance testing to confirm organisational adherence to regulatory, license, technical and policy requirements.

- Leading teams, managing allocated resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies and evaluating business outcomes
- Clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people
- Accountable and accurate completion of work within timeframes and to quality requirements, sharing expertise with others and mentoring less experienced employees
- Planning, leading, managing and reporting on quality assurance activities, recommending improvements to organisational processes and practices
- Applying knowledge, identifying issues and recommending solutions
- Internal and external stakeholder engagement and negotiation, thereby ensuring outcomes are achieved
- Liaising with team members to prioritise and coordinate work
- Evaluating and reporting on organisational compliance with relevant requirements
- Enhancing the effectiveness of quality assurance, governance and risk management processes.
