The key duties of the position include
Communication and Insights Officer
The Communication and Insights Officer position is situated in the Compliance Education Team. The Team plays a vital role in supporting the schools sector meet their funding obligations by designing and providing effective and impactful education, training, information products. Through the timely delivery of user-centred information, resources and communications, the department can assist the schools sector in better understanding its obligations.
The work is varied and fulfilling, and you will see the tangible outcomes of your work by helping the Department uplift the capacity and capability of the schools sector in meeting their requirements under the Act. The Team also manages the publication of Australian Government Schools Funding report under section 127 of the Act, and two programs: the Northern Territory Additional Payment and the Non-Government Schools Reform Fund (NGRSF).
The key deliverables include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop and coordinate accessible and engaging written content informed by research, insights and evaluation.
- Administer engagement activities including establishing meetings and events, taking detailed minutes, and facilitating the delivery of actions.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with impacted internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and deliver the dissemination of tools and resources that clearly and concisely communicate requirements and build awareness across the sector and support the evaluation activities to gain insights and build lesson learnt into future policy considerations.
- Deliver daily program management requirements including preparing for program closure activities, maintaining appropriate documentations to support payment assessments and drafting briefs, minutes and correspondence for a broad range of audience.
- Be a key part of refining and improving the processes and workflow of the team. Working as effective part of cross-functional teams by ensuring timely and quality delivery of products, reporting on progress and assisting others as required.
Recurrent Funding Assurance Program Officer
Our ideal candidate will be working collaboratively across the Branch and supports project design and delivers planned assurance activities, including procurement, contract management, project management, stakeholder engagement, operational improvements, and other program/project related activities.
The key deliverables include but are not limited to the following:
- Implementing the annual Census Post-Enumeration (Census PE) and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) quality assurance activity.
- Build and process improve the design, delivery, and implementation of relevant assurance activities.
- Supporting stakeholder engagement and sector capacity to participate in assurance activities.
- Administration of procurement activity and contract management.
- Provision of input to regular and ad hoc.
- Contributing to or draft briefings and advice to Ministers, Executive and Key Internal and External Stakeholders.
Financial Accountant
Our ideal candidate will be a highly skilled and self-motivated professional to provide accounting analysis and advice with regard to school financial assurance and compliance with the Act and the Regulations.
You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in relation to financial assurance and compliance activities outlined in the Schools Funding Assurance Framework, to collect information and analyse data and reports relating to the Australian schools sector and compliance with the requirements of the Act and the Regulations.
The key deliverables include but are not limited to the following:
- Providing accounting analysis and advice with regard to school financial assurance and compliance.
- Contributing to key financial assurance and compliance activities.
- Undertaking financial analysis to assess the financial viability of approved authorities through the review of audited financial statements and other information.
- Assess school audits and information in relation to audits.
- Undertake complex compliance case management.
- Leading or managing the preparation of briefing material and reports, including dashboard reporting.
- Ability to understand relevant auditing, financial, legal and governance concepts and issues in the context of complex compliance matters.
- Effectively managing relationships with regulated entities in the schools sector, and other Commonwealth, state and territory regulators.
- Proposing and facilitating innovation initiatives and contribute to business improvement strategies and to change in workplace practices.
Qualifications - Financial Accountant
Qualification in Accounting/Finance (Essential).
