AHL hostels are a home away from home for people needing to travel for access to services or for work and education opportunities. They provide comfortable, culturally safe and affordable accommodation, three meals a day and a welcoming environment for those who stay.
The OpportunityAHL’s 42 hostels are located in Australian capital cities as well as remote communities reaching from Thursday Island in Far North Queensland to Kalgoorlie in WA.
As the Facilities Contract Manager you will have responsibility for procurement and ensuring contracts are in place to enable day to day maintenance, significant work and capital works projects to be completed.
This directly contributes to AHL’s ability to provide a safe place to stay for over 1,200 men, women and children each day.
The RoleThis is a pivotal role directly reporting to the Director of Facilities and has responsibility for the comprehensive management of all hostel accommodation including overseeing and coordinating facilities, procurement evaluations, contract negotiation and contractor performance reporting.
Leading RFQ and RFT processes will also be a key focus for this role.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Participating in contract negotiation processes to secure favourable terms and conditions
- Ensuring comprehensive documentation of all procurements
- Maintaining a comprehensive AHL contracts database
- Implementing corrective actions to address non-compliance issues
- Fostering positive relationships with AHL’s vendors, clients, and external partners
- Managing and delivering strategic commercial projects
People with a strong understanding of First Nations histories and cultures are well suited to this opportunity. You will need to be able to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations peoples.
Experience in procurement and contract management, facilities management or related fields is required to succeed in this role.

This role is a fulltime, permanent opportunity and can be based in AHL’s offices in Canberra, Brisbane or Perth.
- $104,763 – $108,169 + 15.4% Super
- Pending the outcome of the AHL’s Enterprise Agreement, employees will receive salary increases
